As the Knoxville junk removal leader, Junk Galaxy typically works with residential and commercial customers, but it is also devoted to Knoxville community cleanup efforts. On Saturday, September 17, the Junk Galaxy team joined hundreds of community volunteers at the East Knoxville Community Cleanup 2022, providing its services and equipment at no charge. This annual event is organized by Keep Knoxville Beautiful, a local nonprofit organization devoted to litter and graffiti abatement through education and clean-up events staffed by volunteers.
Keeping Knoxville Beautiful for Nearly 45 Years
Keep Knoxville Beautiful began in 1978 as the Greater Knoxville Beautification Board (GKBB) to help clean up Knoxville before the 1982 World’s Fair. Today, it remains dedicated to making Knox County cleaner, greener, and more beautiful.

We volunteer dump trucks and employees to pick up the many tons of trash that are collected by volunteers at every Keep Knoxville Beautiful Community Cleanup event. Nearly 3 Tons of Litter Removed from Parks and Streets
The amount of litter retrieved at these events is staggering. At the September event, a total of 282 volunteers picked up an astounding 5,800 lbs of litter. In addition to the thousands of bags of trash that the volunteers left at over 30 different collection points, our crew also loaded tires, mattresses, furniture, and other debris. This initiative certainly helped beautify parks, greenways, and streets throughout the vibrant East Knoxville community.
