Part One: Initial Consultation
When one of our past clients called, she wasn’t calling about her own home.
She was calling for her sister who had been struggling with a hoarding disorder.
Underneath the accumulation, the mold, plumbing, and electrical problems in the house had gotten serious. The shame that came with the situation made her sister isolate herself from friends and family for years.
We knew making that call couldn’t have been easy. But having worked with us before, she knew what to expect from our crew. That trust made it a little easier to ask for help with something this personal.
What we found when we got there...
Severe clutter
Debris and belongings filled nearly every room, leaving no clear path from one space to the next.
Sewage-soaked carpets
Both toilet drains were clogged, and the resident had to lay down plastic sheets to walk from room to room.
Widespread mold
Mold was visible throughout the entire home, a result of moisture buildup over the years.
Compromised electrical
The electrical systems were damaged, making the home unsafe and unlivable.
Part Two: Complete Timeline
The job called for a full hoarding cleanout and a complete interior demolition, so a contractor could come in and rebuild it into a place her sister could feel at home in again.
Monday
Our team walked the home, assessed the scope, and provided the client with a quote.
Tuesday
The crew arrived and began the hoarding cleanout, working through the accumulated debris under HAZMAT protocol.
Wednesday to Friday
The debris cleanout wrapped up, and the crew transitioned into floor and baseboard removal, pulling carpet, padding, tackstrip, and vinyl laminate, before moving into full interior demolition.
Saturday
The crew finished the demolition and left industrial fans running to begin drying out the exposed framing.
The following Monday, the contractor took over for mold remediation, drain cleanout, and the full renovation. Within two months, the home’s interior was completely rebuilt.

This project included:
- 60 cubic yards or five truckloads of hoarded material removed
- Full demolition of walls and ceilings throughout the 1,100 sq. ft. home
- Carpets, paddings, tackstrips, and vinyl laminate flooring removed, along with every baseboard
- All cabinets, countertops, vanities, and tile backsplashes demolished
- Every bathtub, shower, and toilet removed
- Interior doors, casings, and trim removed
- Sewage-exposed materials contained to prevent further contamination
- Industrial fans run continuously to dry out the framing after demolition
- Thorough cleanup of the exposed structure
4-Person Crew
A four-person crew handled the entire cleanout and demolition. That size gave the team enough hands to move fast without getting in each other’s way inside a home tightly packed with debris.
Equipment Used
The crew hauled debris in 15-cubic-yard dump trucks, filling five full loads. Everyone worked in professional-grade PPE, including respirators, suits, and gloves, given the mold and raw sewage. Power tools, hand tools, and pry bars handled the demo, 6-mil plastic contained the contaminated material, and industrial fans, shop-vacs, and blowers took care of drying and cleanup once the framing was exposed.
